[Crosspoint Hills] Setting and Locations

Welcome To Crosspoint Hills
population: Who knows?

Crosspoint Hills is a tiny town literally in the middle of nowhere. It can't be found on any map and only those who live there or have been there before can find it intentionally. All others just seem to drift in like the tide.

Some drive in on streets that seem to disappear in the rearview mirror leaving nothing but desert, forest, or open fields behind you, depending on where you were coming from. Others come by boat, being washed up the river by a sudden, strange tide or up to the ferry boat dock on the town-side shore of Point Lake. Still others come by train, arriving at Crosspoint Station on the 12:00 train out of... everywhere. And we do mean everywhere.

Time and travel are both controlled by the Crosspoint Hills clock tower. The tall spire rises high above town and chimes the hour for all to hear. Its most enthusiastic chimes, however, come at noon and midnight. These are the magic hours, when the city's magical barriers open and allow travelers in and out. If you try to leave at any other time, you will be unable to -- roads will end, boat anchors will be impossible to lift, trains will not go. If, on the other hand, you happen to be in your car heading out when the clock chimes, you can be on your way.

Helpful staff and townspeople will be glad to tell you when the next magic hour will strike.

One main road runs through the middle of town, aptly named Main Street. Smaller side streets will take you to the various other locations Crosspoint Hills has to offer, but all roads do eventually lead back to Main Street. Main Street leads from one side to the other, seemingly ending abruptly at each edge of town. Shops, diners, and other helpful businesses can be found there. The town also sports a small police station, a radio station, a television studio, a hospital, a small gas station, and other small town accouterments. If you need directions just ask.

The north side of town lives in the shadow of a majestic mountain range. The mountains are cut off from the town by the river that runs along the town border. To the east is a lush forest. At the southern edge of town, the landscape gives way to dry, arid desert. The east side of town sports a sandy beach and dunes that overlook an endless, blue ocean.

Crosspoint Hills is dedicated to being the finest tourist destination in all of anywhere. Welcome to our humble town and we hope you enjoy your stay.

At least until the clock chimes.
